About the Author
Greta McNeill-Moretti is an author and advocate dedicated to helping others navigate the complex emotional landscape of grief and healing. Drawing on her own lived experience with widowhood, she writes with honesty, compassion, and a deep understanding of the transformative nature of loss.
She describes herself as an ordinary girl who came from humble beginnings. Born in New York City, she was the youngest of three siblings. Her family moved to the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, New York, when she was just a baby. “Growing up, I was this skinny, scrappy little tomboy, playing stickball on the streets of the Bronx.” Location-wise, she lived approximately three blocks south of Gaelic Park, which is located at West 240th Street and Broadway, and is also primarily known as the home of the New York Gaelic Athletic Association, a cultural hub for New York's Irish community. Both of her parents held a Celtic heritage, with her father, James, being of Irish descent, and her mother, Winifred, being of Scottish/English descent. Her fondest memories of childhood lie in the summers she and her family spent in Montauk Point, Long Island.
Her family relocated to Yonkers, NY, when she was ten years old, where she spent the next nine years of her life until she met and then married her soulmate, Lawrence. While raising a family, her greatest passion in life remained intact, writing. She is a talented and versatile ghostwriter known for her ability to seamlessly provide content and fill in narrative gaps for clients across different genres and mediums. However, she recognized the hard truth: Following her heart didn't translate into paying the bills, so she pursued a corporate career in order to share in the financial responsibilities to cover the cost of raising two wonderful sons.
Her life now focuses on resilience, spiritual reflection, and the importance of rebuilding one’s life with dignity and purpose. She is committed to supporting individuals facing similar journeys, offering guidance and encouragement, and inspiring recovery even in the wake of profound sorrow. The Destiny of Our Stars is her award-winning memoir.
